Gabriel, an Army veteran, fell on hard times and experienced homelessness. With help from the Gold Coast Veterans Foundation, he was able to move into a new apartment in Ventura—his own place to call home. The team transported his belongings from storage, helped him get settled, and even provided a bicycle so he could get around and reconnect with his community. Today, Gabriel is grateful for a place to call home as he begins this next chapter.

The 2nd Annual Supervisorial Leadership and Excellence Awards supports the Gold Coast Veterans Foundation Mobile Outreach Unit—helping veterans like Gabriel. Join us on May 7 at Amgen as we recognize local leaders and support local veterans! Get your tickets today at link in bio. @gcvfvets

In a recent meeting with the TO Chief of Police (Sheriff’s Commander) about e-bike and e-motorcycle safety concerns, he shared with me that the office will be enforcing against unlawful and unsafe behavior. They will not necessarily chase youth who attempt to evade - which could create significant safety issues for everyone - but they will conduct the time-consuming follow-up investigation to identify the individuals and cite or arrest them at a later date, like was done here. This is great work by our local law enforcement professionals. Thank you to them all.

“As a third-generation veteran, this work is deeply personal to me,” said Chair of the Board of Supervisors Jeff Gorell. “We have a responsibility to stand by those who have served – not just in words, but in action. The Veterans Mentorship Program is about meeting veterans and first responders where they are, with peer support, guidance, and real pathways forward. This investment honors their service by helping ensure they have the tools, connection, and support needed to thrive in civilian life, and reflects our broader commitment to building a healthier, safer, and more resilient Ventura County.” Learn more at link in bio.

Encouraging progress in Ventura County. The 2026 Point-in-Time Count shows a 28% reduction in homelessness since 2023—a meaningful step forward driven by investments in housing, prevention, and coordinated community efforts.

Behind every number in this report is a person—someone whose life is changing for the better. This progress reflects a strong, community-wide commitment to expanding housing, strengthening prevention, and meeting people where they are. We’re grateful to the
many partners making this work possible.

While encouraged by these results, we remain focused on the goal: ensuring every person in Ventura County has stability, dignity, and a place to call home. Full report at link in bio.
