Recent acts of violence and credible threats—both abroad and here in the United States—are deeply disturbing and affect communities everywhere. Moments like this remind us how connected we are and how important it is to support one another.

I want our community, including our Jewish residents, to know that safety and well-being remain a priority. The Sheriff and I have been in recent close communication with the Jewish Federation and local temples to ensure connection, support, and awareness. Local, state, and federal partners continue to share information and work together to prevent harm.

We will remain vigilant to protect public safety. We can all help by checking in on one another, staying aware, and if you see something concerning, please say something.

It’s #GivingTuesday, and I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible organizations across Ventura County that are supporting our neighbors this season.

From food assistance and housing support to youth programs, senior services, animal services, and community resilience efforts, there are many local groups doing meaningful work!

If you’re able to give financially, today is a wonderful opportunity to support the causes that matter most to you. And if donating isn’t possible right now, your time can make just as big an impact. Ventura County’s United Way offers volunteer opportunities throughout the year—from reading programs to community cleanups, packing food boxes, and supporting local families. Info at www.volunteerventuracounty.org.

Whether you give, volunteer, or simply help spread the word, every act of kindness strengthens our community. Thank you for being part of what makes Ventura County such a generous and caring place! @vcunitedway

On this Thanksgiving, I want to extend my gratitude to the many first responders, safety volunteers and frontline workers who continue serving our community today. While many of us gather with loved ones, these dedicated professionals step away from their own families to protect and support our community, care for pets in the shelter, save lives in our hospitals, and stay on watch to lend a helping hand.

Thank you to Ventura County Fire, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Public Works crews, the Health Care Agency, Probation, Animal Services, and the dedicated volunteers in Search and Rescue and other programs who are working or on standby today. Your dedication and selfless service are deeply appreciated. Ventura County is the safest large county in California because of you.
